Israel too good for China

Israel easily defeated China 52:17 to commence their VRILITTOS 2018 campaign with a victory. China’s strength was hardly known to their opponents, but it didn’t take much time to the Israelis to realise that they wouldn’t face any particular trouble to beat their opponents.

China took advantage of Israel’s deep rotation to score a number of goals in counter attack. In addition, their goalkeeper Hao Chen made some beautiful saves to help his team avoid losing with a bigger difference.

QUOTES

Jingzhong Zheng (China Coach): “We felt pretty tired after a long trip. We tried our best against a team with big bodies.

“It’s our first time in a tournament of this calibre, and we aim to get ourselves ready for the big future challenges.”

Nikola Maksimovic (Coach Israel): “We were expecting that the game would end like this. I only asked from my players to be serious and get ready for tomorrow’s fixture against Russia.

“VRILITTOS is my favourite tournament. I first came here with Novi Beograd in 2013. This year our first goal is to reach the semi-finals and then to play in the final.

“We want to come back in Athens and play at the IHF Men’s Youth World Championship in 2021, but first we need to come through the qualifying phase at the European Championship. We want to play in as many tough games as possible.”
