HUNGARY – ISRAEL 33-26 (19-13)
Hungary extended their undefeated streak by defeating Israel 33-26. As always, the Magyars, who are strong favourites to finish on top of the ranking table, built a five-goal lead (15-10 in minute 20) in the game’s early stages. Israel changed their defence to 3-3 in a desperate move to cut the difference, but Hungary kept their composure and further opened the gap to six goals (17-11, 19-13). Nothing really changed in the second half and the game ended with Hungary celebrating their third win.
Vago Attila (Coach – Hungary): “I am overwhelmed because we won a difficult game against a very strong defensively opponent. Their 3-3 defence has caused problems to all the teams they confronted before, but my players responded well and deserve all credit.”
Oded Boutenko: (Coach – Israel): “We tried everything we has in our armory to beat Hungary, but we were not that good in this game, unlike the previous one today. We won’t stop working hard and I am sure will play better in our next game.”
